007 Combat Trousers

James Bond in No Time to Die, 2021 — as worn by Daniel Craig

On Safin’s island, a decommissioned World War II base repurposed for Project Heracles, James Bond wears the N. Peal 007 Combat Trousers through the film’s last assault.

The scene

On Safin’s island, a decommissioned World War II base repurposed for Project Heracles, James Bond wears the N. Peal 007 Combat Trousers through the film’s last assault. They are part of the dark commando outfit he uses as he moves deeper into the facility alone, crossing exposed gantries, climbing metal stairs, entering the control room and passing through the flooded zen-garden space above the blast doors. After getting Madeleine Swann and Mathilde away from the island, Bond keeps fighting while wounded and soaked, then presses on after reopening the silo doors and calling in the missile strike that will destroy the base.

The trousers are significant because they were developed with No Time to Die costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb specifically for this action sequence. N. Peal states that Larlarb wanted a Bond trouser that worked with the commando sweater while combining tactical function with Bond’s “effortless and refined style.” She also explained that the pockets, ankle zips, adjustable hem straps and interior fixtures were designed around practical prop needs, and that multiple versions were refined during fittings to meet changing technical demands while preserving Bond’s signature edge.

On screen, that design reads clearly in motion. The tapered leg and utility detailing stand out against the island lair’s steel walkways, concrete surfaces and dark water, while the wet fabric and hardware catch the cold industrial light. In wider shots and on stairways, the trousers help sharpen Bond’s stripped-down silhouette as the finale closes around him.

Archive — the object

N. Peal, founded in London in 1936 by Nat Peal, built its reputation on British luxury knitwear and cashmere from its Burlington Arcade base. That heritage makes the 007 Combat Trousers an unusual but telling entry in the brand’s Bond association: for No Time to Die, N. Peal worked with costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb on pieces for James Bond’s final mission look, extending the label’s screen relationship beyond sweaters and into a fully tactical lower half. The retail trousers were issued in grey under style reference NPG107715JB_GRY and made from 97% cotton with 3% elastane.

N. Peal’s own product details specify gunmetal zips and poppers, two zipped pockets, one popper-fastened pocket, a front left gusseted pocket, hem zips, adjustable hem straps, and internal fixtures for attaching braces, which were sold separately. Coverage of the release also notes the tapered leg and the intended pairing with the matching N. Peal commando sweater. Their route into No Time to Die is especially interesting because the film’s finale costume was conceived as military-inspired action wear rather than classic Bond tailoring. Christie’s description of Daniel Craig’s tactical costume identifies custom slate blue-grey combat trousers designed by Larlarb and worn with braces, while Bond-focused coverage records that N.

Peal collaborated with her to develop the consumer version tied directly to that screen look. That afterlife is what gives the trousers their niche appeal. N. Peal presented them as an officially licensed 007 item and as one of the standout pieces in its Bond collection, a rare case of a film-specific action costume becoming a branded retail product. They remain a recognizable collector piece among No Time to Die enthusiasts because they are inseparable from Bond’s finale costume and from Daniel Craig’s last appearance as 007.
