What We Collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account — your name, email address, and optional profile details including year of birth, gender identity, country of residence, and style preferences. We also collect your activity on the platform: search queries, pieces you save to your archive, questions you send the editors about a piece, accuracy votes, and the films, products and editorial features you read. We collect your approximate country from request headers to understand where our readers come from. We do not collect or store IP addresses.
How We Use It
We use your data to provide and personalise Spotto — including your saved archive, your reader profile, search suggestions, and availability alerts for pieces you follow. Searches and questions help us grow and correct the archive; the editorial content of the magazine itself is the same for every reader. We use aggregated and fully anonymised behavioural data — with no individual identification possible — to generate intelligence reports for brands and studios about product placement performance. Your personal information is never included in any report shared with third parties.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share identifiable personal information with any third party. Aggregated anonymised data — meaning patterns across many users with no individual linkable — is shared with brand and studio clients as market intelligence. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account your personal profile and saved items are permanently deleted. Your anonymous search and activity history is retained in anonymised form to improve the platform for all users — this data cannot be linked back to you after deletion.
Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you. You have the right to correct inaccurate data. You have the right to delete your account and personal data at any time from your Account page. You have the right to data portability — contact us and we will provide your data in a readable format.
