The scene
In the season-five finale of Emily in Paris, Emily Cooper arrives in Venice by water taxi with Marcello Muratori, Mindy Chen and Nicolas de Léon ahead of Marcello’s Venice Fashion Week debut. The four take in the city from the boat as the arrival sequence shows Venetian bridges and waterways. Emily wears the Stine Goya Corset Top and Voluminous Midi Skirt - Black Dots: an off-white, fitted top and full skirt marked with oversized black spots. The water-taxi arrival is separate from the later gondola ride on which Nicolas proposes to Mindy.
Costume designer Marylin Fitoussi chose a vintage-inflected silhouette with modern proportions and commissioned Stine Goya to create the unusually large dot print for Lily Collins. Fitoussi traced the season’s polka dots to actresses in 1950s Italian cinema, including Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale; for Venice, she wanted a romantic shape that could also look powerful. The fabric was printed in Denmark, then made into the pieces in the production’s Paris workshop.
Stine Goya described the simpler cut as a way to let the print speak and intended the look to register Emily’s confidence on entering a new city. The arrival places Emily’s stark black-and-white print against Venice rather than a fashion-show backdrop. Shots of the route include the Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge. Her swept-back hair, white sunglasses and gold hoops leave the bold pattern unobscured.

The object
Danish designer Stine Goya founded her namesake label in 2006, offering an alternative to the muted minimalism long associated with Scandinavian fashion. Copenhagen remains a source of inspiration for the brand, whose in-house team develops hand-drawn prints. The Black Dots set brings that interest in pattern to a restrained palette: white silk covered in large black polka dots. The limited-edition Corset Top and Voluminous Midi Skirt - Black Dots are two coordinating pieces, each listed by Stine Goya as 100% silk and dry-clean only. The structured top has adjustable straps and a back closure.
Pleats at the skirt’s waist open into an A-line silhouette; the skirt is fully lined and fastens with a concealed side zipper. Stine Goya offered both pieces in sizes XXS through XXXL and notes that the skirt tends to run large. The set was developed with Marylin Fitoussi and the Emily in Paris costume team for Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins. Fitoussi said the fabric was printed in Denmark, then sent to the production’s Paris workshop, where the costume pieces were made. She described the result as a vintage silhouette with a modern touch.
Emily wears it in the fifth season’s Venice-set tenth episode. Stine Goya released the matching top and skirt for sale when the season arrived in December 2025, making the screen design available beyond the production. The brand also offered a Black Dots silk midi dress as part of the capsule. Elle identified both pieces in its guide to the season’s looks. The top and skirt now appear in Stine Goya’s archive listings, while their individual product pages list them as out of stock.
