1959 — The wardrobe & objects
Featuring Roger Thornhill
Cary Grant’s Roger Thornhill is dressed for trouble before he quite knows it, with a blue-grey glen check suit that gives his first wrong turn a polished edge. The look is clipped, urbane, and just off enough for a man who arrives by bus at the Prairie Stop on Route 41, expecting George Kaplan and finding the quieter mechanics of misdirection instead. Then comes the flight north, and the orange-brown tortoiseshell sunglasses on the 20th Century Limited to Chicago. They suit a man trying to look composed while New York, Grand Central, and a murder accusation are all closing in behind him.
