1999 — The wardrobe & objects
Featuring Tom Ripley
In Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley, Tom Ripley moves through sun-struck Italy with the kind of careful confidence that can still look like borrowed luck. The Persol PO3260S in Terra Di Siena suits that coastal drift, shading him as he slips between boats, piazzas and café terraces, trying to inhabit Dickie Greenleaf’s world without quite belonging to it. The white linen camp-collar shirt keeps the mood light and imprecise, all breeze and concealment. On Tom, even the simplest pieces feel slightly provisional, as if they might be worn for a role before the role turns round and wears him.
