1961 — The wardrobe & objects
Featuring Holly Golightly
On Fifth Avenue at dawn, Holly Golightly makes her entrance with a paper coffee and a pastry, the city still half-asleep around her. She pauses outside Tiffany & Co. in Givenchy’s black Italian satin sheath, a custom-made evening gown that does all the talking before she does. It is a look built on contrast: polished but slightly rumpled, glamorous yet on the move, as if she has arrived from somewhere more interesting than home. The dress’s clean line and deep black surface give the opening its snap, and Holly, for a moment, seems perfectly composed against the cold morning light.
